Support our work

Every dollar donated to OKS goes directly into supporting people in Otago affected by kidney disease.

What your donation pays for

Welcome gift packs

For people new to dialysis at Dunedin Hospital — small, thoughtful items so nobody starts the journey empty-handed.

The Dialysis Treatment Van

We donated $5,000 to Christchurch Kidney Society’s new dialysis treatment van — a vital resource our members also use.

Fresh baking

Helps us continue our partnership with Good Bitches Baking, who provide treats for dialysis patients every fortnight.

Newsletters & events

Producing and posting our quarterly newsletter, and subsidising the cost of our annual member lunches.

How to donate

If you’d like to make a donation — whether that’s a one-off gift, a regular contribution, or a bequest in memory of a loved one — you can pay directly into our bank account:

Account name: Otago Kidney Society
Account number: 03-0903-0387648-00

Please use your name as the reference so we know who to thank. Email info@oks.nz if there’s anything else you’d like to know.

Email us about donating

Claiming a tax credit. OKS is a registered charitable entity and an approved donee organisation, so if you’re a New Zealand taxpayer you can claim a tax credit of 33.33% on donations of $5 or more — $33.33 back on a $100 gift. You’ll need a receipt, so just email info@oks.nz and we’ll send you one. Claims are made through your myIR account with Inland Revenue at the end of the tax year, and you can claim for the past four years if you’ve missed any.

Otago Kidney Society Incorporated · Registered charitable entity under the Charities Act 2005 · Charity registration number CC27497

Bequests & in-memoriam gifts

OKS has been very fortunate to receive several bequests over the years that have allowed us to do more for our community than we ever could alone.

If you’re considering leaving a bequest to OKS, or making a donation in memory of someone special, we would be honoured to talk with you and your family about how your gift can be used.

Please email info@oks.nz, or phone our treasurer Karen Macleod on 021 280 0552, and we can arrange a quiet conversation.

Fundraisers & partners

We are deeply grateful to the local businesses, clubs and community groups who choose OKS as their charity of the year — like the Otago Classic Motoring Club and the Otago Early Falcon and Fairlane Club, who named us as their charity for the Auto Spectacular and raised $4,000 for our work.

If your club or business is looking for a local charity partner with a clear, practical impact, we’d love to talk.

Thank you 💛

From every member, every patient, and every volunteer — thank you for thinking of us. Your generosity makes the work possible.
